The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) extended the 30% federal tax credit for the purchase and installation of residential solar water heating systems through the year 2016. In addition, the ARRA also removed the $2,000 benefit cap that was in affect prior to 2009

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 established a 30% tax credit for the purchase and installation of residential solar water heating systems installed between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2016.
