Incentives
Now, more than ever, people are realizing that sustainable alternative energy resources must be utilized. The federal and state governments have taken an active role in promoting the conservation of energy and the use of energy efficient technology through various incentive programs.
As of January of 2009, the government lifted the $2000 limit on the available Investment Tax Credit applicable towards the installation of a solar photovoltaic system as well as other alternative energy technology. Additionally, chances are there are local, as well as federal, incentives available to make it even more cost effective for you to invest in efficient energy technology. Those incentives include, but are not limited to:
-
30% Investment Tax Credit or 30% Treasury Department Renewable Energy Grant
-
40% State of Tennessee Renewable Energy Grant (not available to residential)
-
$1000 TVA Grant (participating utilities)
-
TVA purchase of power generated at $ .12 per kwh above current rate (TVA Green Power Switch Generation Partners Program) (participating utilities)
-
25% REAP Grant (small business and agriculture)
Now is the time to take advantage of these opportunities!
